Week 1 Term 4 2009

A new horticulture extension group met today. We tidied up the worm farm and weeded the 2 vege gardens. Then we dug some compost into the gardens and planted some carrot and raddish seeds, some lettuce, celery and bean seedlings as well as 2 pumpkin plants.
We then took a 'Waste Audit' to see what rubbish we throw away. We sorted and weighed our waste in 5 piles- Paper/cardboard,Organic waste (Food and garden),Recyclable items: plastics (1 and 2), glass, tins, cans, Reusable items (eg; yoghurt pots that are not recyclable), and Landfill waste.

We are going to look at forms of recycling! A compost looks a definate for all the organic waste. We are going to investigate recycling paper as well.
